THE END OF THE THEATRE BUILDING
In May 2012 Croydon Council unexpectedly withdrew financial support
(on Warehouse Theatre's 35th birthday) - the Council had supported the theatre for 30 years
until 2008, during which time its international reputation was established, and more support
had been agreed in Oct 2011 until at least Dec 2012.

This withdrawal forced the managing company, Warehouse Theatre Company Limited,
into Administration.

A new independent company was set up - Warehouse Phoenix Limited -
in order to keep the Warehouse name alive, as its established reputation
could never be replaced in Croydon, London, the UK or Internationally.

The lease of the Warehouse Theatre building ran out on 27 November 12 and the landlords
carried out a survey to check its safety. Unfortunately, the survey revealed serious structural problems,
and the building, sadly, has now been demolished.
