When will I hear?
We will use one of the stamped addressed envelopes mentioned on the entry form to let you know that your script has arrived safely and the second to tell you whether your play has reached the shortlist.  You will hear by the end of September 2007.

How many plays will be shortlisted/selected?
10 plays will be shortlisted.
From this, FOUR plays will be selected to be showcased at the Festival weekend on Saturday 17 and Sunday 18 November 2007.
The selected plays will be announced at a press reception at a West End theatre in October.

Why do you need me to enter under a pseudonym?
We want the competition to be completely fair.
The pseudonym allows complete anonymity
so our judgement is made solely on the script.

What does my script need to look like?
Your script should be typed, and have a front page with its title
and your pseudonym on.   All pages should be numbered.
You should also include a character list,
with the number of characters, and a brief description of each.
Your text should be double spaced and printed single-sided.
Stage directions can appear in Italics or capital letters.
Your script should be securely bound
on the left hand side with a paper fastener.

How many plays can I enter?
Ideally only one. If you have a number of plays,
select the one you think the best and send us that.

How long should my play be?
We are looking for full-length plays - timings are suggested on the entry form, but if your play is under fifty pages you may need to develop it; if it is much over 100 pages, it may benefit from editing.

How many characters can I write for?
There are no restrictions on cast size, although you should try
to avoid “walkon” parts if you can.  Also, you can include “doubling” information in your Character List.

What should my play be about?
Your play can be about anything you want it to be
.

Does my play have to be a play for the stage?
Yes, we are only looking for stageplays.

Can I enter a play that has been performed before?
No, we are looking for completely original, unperformed plays.
Entries will be disallowed if they have been professionally optioned, produced or published.
Amateur performances do not apply.

Can I enter a translation?
Yes - we can accept a translation
of an unperformed newly-written foreign language work.

Can I enter an adaptation ?
No - we do not accept adaptations of other pieces of work.

How do I contact you?
