On 31 July 08 developers, Stanhope/Schroders were given the go-ahead for
their Ruskin Square proposal...
Ruskin Square is a park-based development on the land on which our current theatre stands
that stretches between Dingwall Road/George Street and the railway line north to Lansdowne Road.
At the centre of the scheme will be our custom-designed 200 seat theatre paid for in full
by Stanhope/Schroders at a cost approaching £5m. Its design will be unique and a real attraction
for Croydon, South London, the UK & Internationally.
Timescale
The present credit crunch has delayed the start but a press release on 26 June 09
expressed the hope for a start soon - in addition Stanhope have said:
"Our commitment to the WT remains and we are looking at putting the theatre
in the building fronting the new arrival space from the station".
We will remain in our present building until the new theatre is built -
your continued support is critical to our future…
Your Help
We thank everyone who has been involved in getting us to this stage.
