Ted's career
has included the directorship of the Drama Theatre of the Sydney Opera House
and many freelance productions in Britain and abroad. These include the Off-Broadway
production of LOOK BACK IN ANGER with Malcolm McDowell (Roundabout Theatre),
Shakespeare's
THE TEMPEST, Congreve's LOVE FOR LOVE, Moliere's THE MISANTHROPE, Coward's
HAY FEVER, Williams' THE NIGHT OF THE IGUANA and Feydeau's THE LADY FROM MAXIM'S
all at the Sydney Opera House, TARANTARA, TARANTARA! by Ian Taylor (Theatre
Royal, Sydney and Australian tour), the Australian premieré of THE
ELEPHANT MAN by Bernard
Pomerance (Melbourne Theatre Company) and Arthur Miller's THE LAST YANKEE
and Joe Orton's ENTERTAINING MR SLOANE (Theatro Ena, Cyprus). In
the UK, he directed major tours of Coward's THE MARQUISE with Moira Lister, Priestley's
AN INSPECTOR CALLS with Peter Vaughan, Adrienne Corri & Alfred Marks, MY
DEAREST IVOR with Vince Hill, Dilys Laye & Louise English and FIND THE
LADY and MY GIDDY AUNT with Mollie Sugden. At the Warehouse Theatre his many
productions include THE ASTROMER'S GARDEN by Kevin Hood (also at the Royal
Court Theatre), PLAYING SINATRA by Bernard Kops (also at Greenwich Theatre)
and SUGAR HILL BLUES by Kevin Hood (also at Hampstead Theatre). He commissioned
and directed all seven episodes of the hugely successful DICK BARTON series
and these productions also played at the Nottingham Playhouse, Yvonne Arnaud Theatre
Guildford, Swan Theatre Stratford-upon-Avon and on tour throughout the country.
