Our
Wine Tastings are held twice a year - usually in March and October.
Since 1995, we have tasted Old World against New
World, fine Italian wines with Enotria Winecellars, Australian
fine wines from Penfolds, fine wines from Fullers,
and with Oddbins we have tasted Spanish & French wines
by region, and fine wines from Greece. In October
02 we tasted Australian fine wines, courtesy of the Australian
Wine Bureau, which included a generous tasting of an Eileen
Hardy Shiraz 1995 (the
current vintage retails at £47.50 a bottle!). In March
03, South African wines courtesy of Edward Cavendish &
Sons, and October saw the Australian Wine Bureau again
providing some more fine Australian wine, in March 04, top-level
South American wines from the Oddbins range.
Our tasting on 29 October 04 was more fine wine from Penfolds.
(Pictures of the evening are below). Friday 1 April 05
saw a different type of evening with a Call-My-Bluff presented
by Michael Arditti MW of Oddbins which was a great success
On 21 October 05 we tried another brilliant selection of fine
Australian wine courtesy of Wine Australia presented by Sarah
Ahmed, and 24 March 06 saw another Call-My-Bluff.
20 October 06 saw a fascinating tasting comparing the Old World
with the New World and in March 07, Director Ted Craig presented
his personal selection from the Laithwaites range.
Oddbins supplied delicious tasting and unusual grape varieties
at the tasting on 19 October 07.
